What is CGNW?

Welcome to the new CGNW website!

Pardon our dust as we build the new site and get everything working properly.
CGNW online

CGNW  formed in 1988 as a non-profit education and information organization and has, for over twenty years, given voice to the concerns of those of us who live in, work in and play in the environment of our region. Our attempts to inject common sense into resource management have led us on a trail that few of us imagined would be necessary when we started. CGNW has helped our 'rural-based' resource provider movement grow from a log truck convoy in Montana to a national movement with over 12,000,000 farmers, ranchers, loggers, miners, fishermen, recreationists and property rights activists in a single fax/email network of communication. 1998 brought CGNW into the "information age" on our 10 year anniversary. CGNW in 2008 now has a new voice that is heard around the world by a global audience.

The Vision

The Vision for a long lasting solution is to maintain healthy ecosystems that coexist with healthy economic and social systems. For the Vision to be achievable, it must be socially realistic, biologically defensible and in concert with natural laws.Socially realistic means that dramatic social changes such as the abandonment of the region to create "natural changes", cannot and will not occur.Biologically defensible means that resource management will provide for sustainable ecosystems. In concert with natural laws means that natural phenomena such as fires and windstorms are inevitable, although their effects can be mitigated. The essential components of the Vision are:

  • Global Perspective
  • Health of the Resource
  • Protection of Private Property
  • Social and Economic Well-Being
